This is a one-day course that provides a unique opportunity to delve deeper into the role of Release Train Engineer (RTE) with Carl Starendal (SAFe Fellow from We Are Movement) and Rune Christensen (SPCT & Strategic Advisor from Scaled Agile). The training dives deep into working with flow as an RTE and also helps you strengthen your own leadership in the RTE role.

COURSE CONTENT
This day is dedicated to diving deep into advanced techniques, methods, and tools for leading flow-based work in the role of Release Train Engineer (RTE). The course builds upon what you learned in the “SAFe RTE” training and focuses on understanding flow and leadership from the perspective of an RTE.
During part of the day, participants will undergo a simulation of the flow for an entire train (ART), which is a concrete tool that participants will take with them after the course to use with their teams and build a common understanding of flow-based work.
The course also aims to create an understanding of the research-based leadership model to develop the participants’ and their teams’ ability to lead and create results.
PREREQUISITES
We strongly recommend having the following prerequisites to participate in the course:
- Having participated in the SAFe Release Train Engineer (SAFe RTE) course
- Having actively worked during a Program Increment (PI) as part of an Agile Release Train (ART)

Carl Starendal
Carl is an experienced leader, having decades of hands-on experience as an entrepreneur, manager & leaders across a diverse range of industries. He is also a sought after keynote speaker on leadership, management and agile product development and a highly regarded mentor & advisor as well as one of the Transformational Leadership trainers (Utvecklande Ledarskap) certified by the Swedish Defence Academy.
Carl Starendal is also as one of the global SAFe Fellows an official contributor to the SAFe Framework and one of the key people behind the Release Train Engineer (RTE) certification course.
Rune Christensen
Rune has more than 20 years of experience working with software and cyberphysical solutions within enterprise and public safety communication, insurance, logistics, and energy. Today he is employed by Scaled Agile, the company behind the SAFe Framework, and has as one of their SPCT Strategic Advisors supported several Enterprises in transforming their ways of working using lean-agile practices and helped them achieve greater business outcomes.
